The GOER is gone

It was a truly sad day at the CAMO Coumpound.

As some of you know, we made a valiant effort to save this piece of history and wanted to donate her to a museum.
Six museums responded...they ALL wanted her but NONE of them could arrange/manage transport funds. Times are getting tough.

I delayed the "drop dead date" again and again hoping someone...somewhere could help me save her...someway.
It didn't happen.

Today, the scrapper came over...again.. and was ready for her so we took her to her doom.
I snapped a few pics up to the point of the scales but I didn't have the heart to see her destiny past that...there was a HUGE shear machine waiting to rip her apart.

Poor Goer is a Gonner. I feel your pain Papabear. A number of my canned engines will likely be scrapped because of the cost of moving them out of N Cuba. I'm pretty certain the M35A2C will be sold and I'm pretty sure I have a deal or two on the table for the M108A2.

It truly is our loss Sir.
There were only 117 of the 10ton Wreckers produced...this one had serial # 1.

I'm afraid there are more rare vehicles to follow because museums have no funds to transport/restore them...even if they are donated.

What did you get for her as scrap? No one offered her to me

Maybe someone likable should of asked us for donations to save her by paying for the trip.

I tried. It came down to the RR...BNSF and their eastern partner.... donating the transport costs. We would have had to wait for them to present the Museum with a bill THEN ask if they would be willing to donate all or part of the shipping cost. The possibility of them denying the cost, between 4 and 6k, was too much of a risk to take. If the Museum ware to have to foot the bill, it would kill it.

Sad to see her go Larry. Funny, we were just talking about the GOER wondering what happened to it. Thank you for giving us a chance.
