Used engine prices?

I may possibly need an engine for my A1. Driving it home tonight I started hearing engine noise and it was a bottom end knock. I know a local guy who has an engine, tranny, & transfer case. But I'm not sure what he wants price wise. Any suggestions?

Not much-as a takeout core, I'd pay maybe $250.

There are a couple jeep parts sellers that sell rebuilt engines with warranties-that's what I'd do, if I wasn't going to rebuild my own.

Found a running F-head Hurricane engine! Someone put in a CJ3A and it has 4K on a rebuild and for a good price & he's local!
