maybe a little less than scrap price if he does the work of getting rid of it for you. I personally would give it to him, sounds like a worthwhile project rather than have it end up in china.

I hauled a M1008 across the scales a few weeks ago. Was paid $130 for the frame and gutted cab.

Wow, maybe I should start buying frames down here and team up with someone up north. I don't recall ever paying more than $1500 for a complete project truck down here.

Edit: take that back, my 1008 was $1900, but it ran and drove, just needed an IP, radiator, and batteries.

Wow, $600 for a frame. I've scrapped no telling how many frames in the last few years. I've got a deuce frame on the way to the scrap yard as soon as I pull a few more parts off it.

Even if somebody gave me a frame, I'd be inclined to just get another truck before I went to the trouble of swapping a frame.

Of all the trucks I've seen with bad frames, the rest of the truck wasn't much better.

Down here in NC,We get about $400 for a good m1008 frame and patracy im with ya man.Thats pretty close to what i paid for mine and i drove it home. Now the army one well thats a diffrent story but it wont take much to get it going as soon as i get off my butt and change the fuel tank.:driver:

we recently took an 87 1 ton crewcab long bed to scrap... and got $800 for it... it was only missing the axles, and front doors.... i still have the doors.., they are not perfect, but was going to make a set of half doors out of them, ( like a jeep ) for when i have the topper off... and have decided not to... Will be too much effort, to swap out all the time... Anyways... back to original question.... If you have a clear title to frame... 500.00 is a decent price... If no title... scrap price is fair... I would hate to build up a rig.. sink tons of money into it, only to jhave it taken away due to frame being stolen or having a lean on it... or get dropped in the pokey... or something to that effect.... Now thats just my 2cents

I think location plays a huge part. The salt belt destroys these trucks.
But when the frame is rusted out, isn't the rest of the truck pretty well shot also?

Vehicles around here will rust pretty good but you don't see too many rusted out frames. Rust has gotten a lot worse since they started using brine water. They will put that stuff down when there is the slightest chance of frozen precip and it seems it will do more damage being in the liquid form and nothing else on the road to help dilute it. Also, we get so little snow around here that by the time they put the salt down it has usually melted anyway on the roads that don't get any salt. I'd be all for banning the brine water at least.

I'm no environmentalist but I would be all for banning salt use due to environmental concerns. Anything to get it off the roads to keep from rusting our vehicles. We really don't get enough snow around here that it's needed.
