Sorry folks about the outage. We're in the process of upgrading the site and had an issue with the database last night. We were not hacked. Just human error.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Couldn't be human error. I have been told you are not human.Sorry folks about the outage. We're in the process of upgrading the site and had an issue with the database last night. We were not hacked. Just human error.
Steel Soldiers on FB is where its at. No one ever post on there though, unless there is an outage.Hooray! The site is back! It went down right as I was posting a reply, and then I found out it was back up mere seconds ago when I got a subscribed thread email. I was already going through withdrawal 15 minutes into the outage.
Hey, is there some other forum or twitter hashtag or something that we can agree to congregate at for mutual support during Steel Soldiers site outages?
That would be great! If it's non-Flash-based (so I could sign in from my iPad), that would be even better! If it would be ok with everyone, I'd like to consider offering a remotely hosted chatroom link for the main page when the site is down. No, it's far from perfect I know. But perhaps it would allow everyone to meet up still. (Just thinking out loud here)
I'm fine with Java. Only problem is, there's so many flavors out there and conflicts. The chatroom I have in mind is java based however. Not perfect for some users, but good for emergency use. That would be great! If it's non-Flash-based (so I could sign in from my iPad), that would be even better!
What for your wheel chock! Haaaahhh!!!!!I was searching the T.M.'s
Maybe not so strange. We run VCenter and it cool to see issues pop up and the software spins up a new server and the process continues or it gets moved to new hardware automagically. Snapshots are taken for the same reason SS is done.EDIT: I just read my post, that probably sounds like Chinese to some of you. So let me try to explain it. We'll have "snapshots" of the complete server running on a session (think of it as a electronic computer running inside a computer). So basically the server runs as a server inside a server. If there's an issue with the server inside, we can switch over to another "snapshot" and carry on. Some of you might use "system restore" in windows. Well what that's doing is reverting the hard drive of your computer to a "snapshot" taken back in time previously. The idea of virtual servers works along the same lines, except working in real time.
We get it, advertisements are annoying!
Sure, ad-blocking software does a great job at blocking ads, but it also blocks useful features of our website like our supporting vendors. Their ads help keep Steel Soldiers going. Please consider disabling your ad blockers for the site. Thanks!
