I have an extra Air filter unit(M813 Fender Mounted?), the unit on my M543A2 is in poor shape(Rust) are they interchangeable? Are they the same size, they look to be but I don't have it here with me. Filter are different I think but size and bolt arrangement is the question!

They are not inter changeable. The filters add a lot of weght and stress on the fenders. The 813/16 have a much stronger brace under the fender to accomidate the extra weight of the filter can. I'm having a hard time finding filters now for my M 54's and I don't know if there is a civi replacement number. I'm sure someone here has found a source but I haven't.

The M809 series air cleaner assembly could be adapted to fit a M39 series it would not be that difficult to do !! As for your photo that is a M39 series air cleaner assembly. as for your filter element i bet you can be cleaner if you find a local filter cleaner that cleans air filters.
