Encountered a '91 Chevy V3500 Air Force truck on GL today. Crew Cab, LWB. Was wondering if these fell into the CUCV category, or if they were an entirely different line of their own? Also wanted to know if anyone had information on these such as Model years, different cab/body configurations (if any), and if they have an M series designator (i.e. M715, M1009, etc.).

No M numbers. Just stock GM trucks that where ordered by the AF. They usually are assigned a Registration number.

Civy models and a great percent without A/C. Would be fun to build into a CUCV clone.

Yeah, I think she'd look good in OD Green. Shame I can't get my hands on it. Looks to be a fairly straight body. Could probably be had for cheap. If I were able to get it, I'd want to convert it to a diesel, probably throw a Allison 1000 tranny behind that (though I'm sure I'd have to do a bodylift or something similar seeing as how the A1000's are so huge).

After a little bodywork, paint, mirrors, turn signal arm, probably have a pretty good truck out of it with minimal work. Most of what it needs seems cheap and minor as far as exterior/interior work. Parts for the older square bodies, especially the civi models like this are plentiful and cheap.
