I just picked up this thread...nice build. Now for my . The quarter fender concept is definitely interesting. However, the standard flat mud guards look better and more original. I like 686 sand with hint of 383 green.Caught between a rock and a hard place! Need help on deciding how to add mud flaps and I may have to move the bed back 3" depending what I decide to do. Should I do the Tan style or the green set up? Suggestions please.
If you are going to keep the truck, I would find a 900 series bed they look so much better and the bows and tarps are easier to find I believe.Warren,
Got a better persective with the other pictures, really nice work, -you have the idea down, one big pickup truck w/ the dual rear axles. The 5 ton bed is the optimum part for the mod, I may have to settle for a duece bed.
JC
rubber flaps hanging down, I think I will make them longer than original I like the longer look and function of the extra long flap.
Thank you, Sir. Much obliged.MothersanM1, You sure have a good looking rig! I really like it, I haven't seen it displayed in a while.
I like that look, I won't ask if you don't! I had some nice ones on my dully and I backed up to curb need I say any more. Thanks for the pics I really like your rig!!! You are welcome.
To get an idea....20 X 30's from a M915 slightly modified on deuce mudguards. Just don't back over them (i.e. curb, steep incline)...don't ask how I know.

Thank you, Sir. Much obliged.
Staves (uprights), corners and bows are interchangeable and easy to find for all M44 (2 1/2-t), M39, M809 and M939 series trucks. M813 and M54 trucks' covers should fit the 14ft. M939 cargo body.If you are going to keep the truck, I would find a 900 series bed they look so much better and the bows and tarps are easier to find I believe.
rrr, I followed your build and followed your advise on leaving the duel axels, I did many of the same things to my build and I will do more in the future. I still have a long way to go. Where did you get the plastic coat? I put some undercoat under the bed where I welded it and I had to use a putty knife to apply it, I was going to put that on top of the bed but that is too much trouble. I like the inside of your bed and for that matter I love the Trucktor. I hope you don't mind me using some of your ideas. ThanksI did this with my M932a1 a year ago. Here's my thread:

I didn't move the bed forward so I had room for the fuel cover on the right tank and also put the tow bar in the front part of the bed for storage. It looks and works great in my opinion. I used commercial style truck mud flaps as well and they are quick detachable and have been problem free.
Scar59, The tail lights were swaped and lowered due to pintel hitch brackets for hitch, I used rod couplings to lower the lights so I did not have to cut the reflectors off not that it would be problem just more work. I really like the lights due to them being further from the center. I was going to mount them on the outside of the hitch but got to thinking if I had a blow out they would be torn off. I think I will work on painting the rest of the bed and mud flabs next, cutting the sides will follow. Thanks for the good comments.Warren, Nice work, are you going to leave leave the tail lights in the original position? That thing looks like it could pull a house off the foundation.
