Thank you very much. I will make a donation when I get a chance.
I see that your info states that it was made in 68, but my id plate says 62. Will that affect the sf-97? I already filled it out with the info on the data plate.

OK here is the issue, you originally posted:

Manufactured by case master, delivered 3-62, contract3: DAAE07-67-C-4183
If it helps, there was a small plate screwed to the frame with what appears to be an "I", then 8731210.

The contract number is 67 (1967). So you can't have a manufacturing date before the contract date. So I would believe the 68 is the manufacturing date.

The SF97 is whatever you put on it. The flip side what is correct. I would want it technically correct in case I ever sell the trailer. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the information. The data plate only has the serial number, year mfrd, and delivery date stamped. case master body inc, and the contract number have both been etched by hand, so something strange is going on. I will contact GL, and get them to correct the year to 68, so that the info is correct.

Is it possible that this trailer was manufactured in 62, and wound up sitting in a lot until the government ordered it?
The other interesting thing, is that it has the M101 hand brakes, but it labeled as a M101A1, so it could be possible that this trailer has had parts swapped out as well.

Sounds like a property book special....meaning someone used it to cover a loss. Keep in mind, there is only one location for serial numbers as well as other info on trailers and that is the data plate. So frankly it is what t is, right, wrong, indifferent. No use in asking the govt, based on recent events, they will either plead the 5th or say they don't know or will get back with you (yea, right).
