So there is nothing wrong with my bobbed Deuce's motor. It has 40,000 miles on it and I put 37,000 of those miles on it. But I've got this cat 3208 with an Allison hooked to it. I want to swap in the Cat. Am I crazy. The cat has 36,000 miles on it. Its a 250 hp version. I tow a lot and daily drive my Deuce.

If you are going to use the Allison, I assume it isn't an overdrive so you will lose a lot of top end. What model is the Allison? If you aren't using the Allison, no big deal!

I'm not sure what the Allison is but I know it doesn't have overdrive. Although there is a spicer 7014 brownie box behind it. The spicer has 4 gears. Double low, low, 1 to 1, and overdrive. It is a cable shift set up. I'd have to move the transfer case to use it. I am thinking I might try to fit it in there too.

That would be a lot of fab work but, if you succeeded it sure would be awesome.

Tell us more about that Spicer brownie! Post up some photos if you got-em. I think that unit sounds wonderful and would personally move the transfer case back to make room for more gearing!

Every time I hear about moving the transfer case back, I wonder about the u-joint angles to the front-rear axle at full suspension compression/extension. Does anyone know the limit before issues arise?

You would have to move the axles back to keep full travel .

I'm running a bobbed deuce. And my friend ownes high angle driveline. So driveshafts won't be an issue. I'll take some pictures of the brownie box tonight after work.

The Spicer 7041 gear ratios are, 2.31 Double Low, 1.21 Low, 1-1 direct, and .83 OD. Unfortunately I have been measuring and have come to the conclusion that a bobbed Deuce doesn't have enough room to run the Cat, Allison, Spicer, and T-case. So now I am going to have to look for another Deuce so I can make a crew cab and have the length I need to make it all work. I am not sure why the pictures turned. I took them the right way. Sorry about that. Oh well it was an idea that will be shelved for awhile.

You would have a lonnnnnnnnnng front drive shaft if you move the transfer back, also will it clear the power pack, could be hard to power a front winch if you have one

Well I went up and read the black type (does not show up on od background), see you have come the this same conclusion
