5 ton air cleaner on a Deuce

Is there a thread out there that has pics, or an install thread? every thread I've found is a pissing contest about filters, cfm, etc. . . . I also didn't see a suggested threads list at the bottom of the new post page? is it my computer or?

Ed, I have everything needed to add one to my deuce. It was going to be expensive to get ducting from the filter housing to the turbo intake, but I got lucky and found a medium duty IH that had the stuff I needed. I will try to get pics tomorrow.

What about the M35A3 filter system? anyone have the CFM specs on the filter, also underhood pics?

So does that correspond to improved mileage (reduced fuel consumption) or more power? The stock deuce filter is huge and bigger in comparison to some engines rated for far more power. Given the dinky turbo compressor side I just don't see the benefit. I don't have a problem with EGT's as it is, so where the tire meets the road how much are they reduced?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "clogged filter indicator" goes into the red at about 20 inches of water IIRC.

Well, I'm doing it because I can. By putting the filter on the fender, I will be making room to install my fuel fired coolant heater. I am also going to be installing a larger turbo from a 5ton truck. Its kinda like those guys that waste money using Amsoil or Royal Purple oil. It isn't better, just different(maybe).
 
I recently bought a deuce that had the 5-ton air cleaner (added by previous owner). He just mounted it on the fender backwards (intake end forward) and then plumbed directly into the inlet of the existing deuce(underhood) air cleaner. Of course he removed the mushroom cap and removed the stock deuce air filter element. That way the stock deuce air cleaner is just a hollow elbow now (pass though).

To summarize flow goes like this - Inlet of 5-ton filter housing forward. Then connect outlet of 5-ton housing to 90 degree elbow to existing stock deuce housing (filter element removed). Then stock hose routing to engine.

(This truck is N/A: non-turbo).

I guess I need to clarify, I am putting an LDS engine in my deuce. I want to do everything possible to make the turbo as efficient as possible. I don't care about fuel economy. I want power. Does anyone have the CFM specs on the M35A3 filter element?

Yeah, I went through all of them with no joy. . . Cummins doesn't even make them anymore. . . .
