What is the plug that the arrow is pointing to? There are two of them on the driver's side and the lower one is leaking coolant. If I can identify it then I can figure out how to fix it. I looked in the TMs but couldn't find it.

That is an internal cooler, usually for oil. The other side is usually for the transmission. However on the GM diesel engines they reversed them for the aluminum oil cooler lines would cross the airflow. So on a "stock" truck the oil lines are on the passenger side and the transmission is on the drivers side.

Do you have an external transmission cooler? The transmission lines should be connected to the item you are asking about.

If the bottom connector is leaking coolant, then it is time for a new radiator.

Your Transmission cooler lines should be plumbed to there , it was probably leaking , so it was bypassed and you should have a external oil cooler in front of the radiator someplace . You have a couple of choices at this point , have a radiator shop rebuild your current core if possible , find a NOS radiator or get a new china built aluminum crap replacement radiator . Bear in mind the NEW replacement radiators are not QUITE the same as the original .Do a search and you should be able to come with lots of info on the subject of replacement radiators for your ride .

Agreed. A new radiator is in order.

I have had good luck with the Spectra Premium CU850. A nearly identical part to the stock. Copper/brass, 4 rows, etc. Weighs almost 50 lbs.

It is now being made in China.

You may need to replace the overflow tube as the outlet on the neck is at a different angle and you may not have enough tube to reach.

You should also consider replacing the rubber mounts as they are likely shot. Prothane makes polyurethane replacements that hold up a lot longer. Big block Chevy are the correct parts.

Hope this helps ...
