Chopping the Top Lower. Windshield Chop Modification

I have a Deuce that I'll be parking in a county that restricts parking to 8 feet wide, 8 feet tall, and 21 feet long. The height of this vehicle worries me since it's on 46 inch tires. I haven't had the truck long enough to measure the height (it's at a mechanic to replace axle seals) but I'm certain this is going to be over my 8 foot height.

I think I can totally fit within parking codes if I cut the pipe lower (or even redirect it) and chop the windshield down (it's a soft top).

Where do I get this done? Has anybody else done this?

Just an FYI: When I had my deuce, it was hard to see stoplights at intersections without leaning forward and looking up, and I'm only 5'10". This will only get worse if you chop down the windshield.

I'm 5'4", so I'm okay with that. I'd rather be able to legally park this in my driveway than be worried about leaning at stoplights.

I'd like a solution that minimizes time involved parking at night and taking off in the morning. Taking down a top at night, especially if it's raining and thundering (which happens a lot down here in summer) isn't going to cut it.

That solution would be put stock tires on.

Agreed^^^ if this is how bad it already is there you may be having some more issues down the road with a big nasty deuce sitting in your driveway. May want to consider parking at a friends or something.

I'd say move too. Or get on the county commission and try to change these ridiculous ordnances that make no sense.
And why would anyone want to live somewhere that you can't even park YOUR vehicle in your driveway without somebody being up your a** about how tall it is? Moreover, why do these morons think they can subject people to ridiculousness like that? People need to get off the power trips. Rant over. Thank you.

Yes it can be done, your best bet is looking for a shop with a lot of chrome and colorful cars out front and big rims. They should have some metal workers who can do a chop top no problem. A hot rod shop would be best but those are getting pretty rare these days. If you have a welder and a cutting disk you can do it yourself.

One question I have is your truck bobbed? If not your over the length as well.

Even if you chop the windshield, do everything to make it fit their size limitations, they are still going to find something.

The windshield frame as well as the soft top frame are pretty simplistic in design.
Take it apart, cut it down and get glass made to fit.

before I did that, I'd put some thought into modifying the stock top & windshield to fold down quickly and easily.
(not unlike a convertible top on a car) Same could be done with the stack.
Get that figured out and you could probably sell quite a few "kits"

Dig two trenches on the side of your house and park it in the those. Should give you a foot reduction. Or construct a berm and adopt a defilade position for maximum concealment.

I Googled "windshield chopping" and found a lot of information on how to chop it. It actually looks simple enough for me to do myself. I'll probably end up chopping my own and having the canvas top modified to fit.

Might be easier to chop a hard top.

It is less than 8' wide.

I'd park it on it's side!
