My transfer case came with all vents hosed together, and when I had it plugged I had t-case oil coming both from cab and oil filter casin, also the fuel tank. Scary stuff...

Unless you like oil in your air filter it's no problem :) Since our air filter units are not totally closed off (Fording Hole) it shouldn't be a problem.
That oil is going to have to travel a long ways to make it to the filter. My fording plug has my compressor intake tied into it. My vent lines are see through and there is no oil built up in them. I've put a few hundered miles since the install. The air filter is still clean, so I don't see that happening.

The problem is that you can potentially suck oil up the lines, especially after the oil gets hot. It might not reach the air filter but can act as a plug for the air movement. Then again maybe it just moves the oil back and forth along the line !
Our busses have vent lines on all the differentials. There over 10 feet long and oil still comes out of them.

Given enough time oil will creep up and out no matter how long the lines are. This is the same action that oil creeps up the dipstick on engines with. It really isn't any worse than just a short breather in place of a long line. Even if the line is full of oil it'll work fine because the oil will move in the line when things expand. When things cool down or the vehicle stops for a while the oil will drain back into its respective gear case.

That's why you need to have the lines come to an area that is well above the vents (like the firewall ) , and if you have a dip in your line the oil can pool. Won't hurt anything as long as your above the vent line.
