So what's the deal with the MEP701a ? Good unit ?

Since the MEP002's are going extinct and I didn't get one in time was looking at MEP701a for a backup generator. It's only 3k watts but from what I understand they are way underrated ??
Pretty **** big gen for only 3k watt ?
How are they ?Decent ? worth it ?

They are 3600 rpm screamers, but fairly good ones, only real problem is lack of parts, this was a one off engine design almost exclusively used on the MEP-016b / MEP-701a generators. Real world rating is likely around 4.5KW or so.

There is a guy locally that has a bunch of tested/running MEP-002a gensets for sale. They are $1,500 without an ASK and $2,500 with em. They are north of Memphis which is a little ways from you but if you want the guys info ill get it.

yeah that is along way away. There were some on GL last year close by. I was a fool for not jumping on it.
