Sold One of the Deuces

Sold one of the Deuces on Saturday. After having 6 and finding my brother (and me as I get older too) was losing interest in driving or working on them, we decided to thin the herd over the past year or two. We are down to one Deuce and a 5 ton.
What a neat site this is and a benefit to tell the buyers about the resources and great people here. They are more comfortable knowing there is a support system when purchasing a 47 year old truck.

They've been here over a year now, and I haven't been able to contact the owner for at least the past 2-3 months. As far as I'm concerned I own them, the other guy just has an option to buy them back. I keep threatening to break out the torch if I don't get paid what I'm owed, and I'm beginning to think I might actually have to.

I'm sure they will. I'd wait to sell till greenplanet(or whatever the F they are) starts running prices up. Then your realistic prices will not get reduced!

First vulture!!! I'd be interested in an A2 Tractor in good shape but I'd want the deal to be legal so don't cut those up!!!

To do that here you have to be a legal registered impound lot with the state, have 8' high chain link fences with barbed/ concertina wire tops, insurance, bonded, enough red tape to not make it worth doing. But I do have a friend with an impound yard.

Would be fun to have one in front and then piggy-back (or however you call it) the rest behind it.



In this case, you should have the front wheels over the 5th wheel instead of the rear. This picture was taken in March 1981 at Mile 422 (Toad River Lodge) along the Alaska Highway.

Your suggestion seems somewhat shortsighted.

"In this case" if you had the front axle of the towed tractor over the 5th wheel of the toter, then you'd be DRAGGING THE TOWED TRUCK'S FRAME on the highway.

Just my observation. You might want to look more closely at the picture yourself.... BUT... There are NO AXLES under the "axe end" of the towed tractor ! ! !

Maybe it's being towed to a location where axles are available and where the installation can be accomplished.

At that time, I was alternating slide film with Ilford high speed black and white film. The black and white film I developed and printed myself, and played around with those pics. So yes, I knew that the rear axles were missing. First thought I would mention it, but then decided that I would wait for any remarks.
