Throw it into a bonfire, wait until it catches fire and then throw water on it. It makes lots of fire works. Happens every year at the Georgia rally.

Like my buddy says, they are worth a good time at a bon fire. Something that big you will want to be wearing a welding helmet to watch though.

Yes. All the information from you guys was about as useful as the Beavis and Butt head video. Thank you.
Honestly, what has been given is what I've seen them used for. I honestly don't even know if the recyclers would take them?

I've never seen them for sale. They'd be worth something to someone who's really worried about a flat tire on their HMMWV but I'd guess most HMMWV owners wouldn't find it worth the effort to install. A spare tire is simpler.

Some places do and some don't buy(recycle) it.

Around here, it pays about the same as aluminum.

Then close the thread. Why would you want to get the last word in? You are a Moderator. Burning magnesium on purpose in an open fire is illegal. Pouring water on it is deadly. That is just wrong to tell someone that. So there is something wrong with a few of the responses. You should be leading as an example to other members.

The plant I work @ uses magnesium chips in chemical reactions, but they are by the 55 gallon drum x many. The magnesium run flat you have would be a center piece for conversation or hang it over your barn door...

Why is burning magnesium illegal?

I will comply with your request. But I'm going to put the last word in.

1. They're scrap, as mentioned over and over, people just burn them for "effect".
2. If you can find someone to recycle them and pay you for them, you'd be even better off. There's no resale on them honestly. And I used to deal with surplus tires.
3. Hopefully you'll understand some of the anguish from others over your pointed answers.
