A2 were Cummins 8.3L (not 8.2L). 6CTA8.3 is the proper engine designation, as stated above, which is a turbocharged engine. All previous generations were Cummins NHC 250 which is a 14L engine and non-turbocharged. Difference in fuel economy is approx. 10mpg vs 4mpg respectfully, so the A2 typically sell for more coin plus they have CTIS. You really gotta love the idle sound of the Cummins 855 (14L) to have it, because you will pay for it in fuel usage. The low end torque is off the charts though I think for this engine. The 8.3L doesn't make any power until the turbo wakes up and calls for more fuel. Both engines are fairly reliable as stated and parts are easily had in the civilian market.
