M1028A2 Question

Can anyone with a M1028A2 take a weld to weld measurement of there front drive shaft? It has to have the NP205 and be the dually at stock Height.

I got a hair over 12 - 1/2 inches from weld to weld. If I'm reading what you want right.

From the front diff, you have the u-joint than a small shaft, then a rubber boot. Then there is a weld with a longer shaft to another weld, then a u-joint and another u-joint to the transfer.

A yoke to yoke measurement would be better.
I concur. There are many different lengths of slip/stub yokes. If yours is different than the guy that checks his, you might be wasting your money. If you want it done right, measure ujoint center to flat flange and take it to a driveline shop for adjustment.

Thanks for your help. Stonepicker1 that is the measurement I wanted but I also see what the others are saying . Is there a chance you can measure from center of the u-joint to the center of u-joint [where the front shaft bolts to the transfer case there are 2 joints if you don't mind just measure from the front joint at the diff to the joint right after the rear weld not the second joint closest to the rear flange that bolts to the transfer case] Hope I didn't cofuse you.

Do you have any Idea how much a 1986 [I don't know what to call it] M1028A2???? With 16000 miles is worth? I'm going to replace the doors, fenders & inner fenders with rust free parts the orignals aren't bad but with the Government Liq. forklift damage and the little rust it's eaiser to just replace them. It's a 6.2L with a Turbo 400 and the NP208 the back rear is a non-posi [Odd] Daully. How can I find out what exactly it is? Are they all called a M1028A2 ?

Table 1-9.1 in TM 9-2320-289-10 shows the difference between the M1028A2 and M1028A3. Basically, your M1028A3 will be equipped with the New Process 208 and the -A2 will have the New Process 205. It should be noted that both were conversions of the M1028 and M1028A1.
