Sorry for your run of bad luck Robert. I hope all smooths out quickly and you and Olga get to come next year. We will raise our glasses to you! [thumbzup]

Robert, I'm sorry you won't be coming this year. A friend of mine, who escaped from the former Czechoslovakia in the 1980s while on holiday with his mother in Austria, is likely to be attending this year with me. We'll miss you and Olga. :(

I'm getting ready to clean up and check out my M35A2 for the trip to the rally. My M35A3, which I usually take to the rally, is still out of commission due to a fire in the engine compartment. I finally got the money from State Farm to pay for the repairs and have accumulated most of the needed parts, but work has not yet started. Unfortunately, I've also had to delay my arrival until Thursday afternoon due to unforeseen difficulties involving work, but I will definitely be there.:grin::grin:

Trailer is loaded. The truck is not. Still have to pack for me and the dog.

Maintenance guy failed to show today. So I rushed like *#&$ and got home in time for nothing.

Now that I know he's not showing (versus late and showing), I still have to replace a trailer light, walk the dogs, bath the dogs, help kids with school work to include a science fair project

LOL, and I was hoping to get to bed early tonight.

Any news about where we are convoying too this year.
Yes. We have a fantastic Saturday getaway planned for the group.

For those of you who haven't been on the convoy, for the last few years, we have done an official Saturday morning convoy to a local bbq joint about 20 miles away. This grew out of an ad hoc thing that (I think) AMGeneral and Papabear did on their own one year and everyone loved it so we ran with it. The convoy gives attendees who aren't off roading an opportunity to drive their vehicles and participate in the rally and the pictures and video are pretty impressive. Last year we took 39 vehicles on the convoy. Law enforcement provides an escort on both legs of the trip.

But, like everything in life, there's a hiccup. As the convoy grew, the bbq joint just couldn't manage the # of people who were participating. There would still be lots of people waiting in line to order while the first people in line had already finished eating. This created some complaints amongst users (rightfully so) about the amount of time the lunch was taking and obviously this made the entire convoy operation run long. So we've been wanting to fix this ..................................................

Keeping in mind that the entire point of the convoy is to have fun and take a ride with the vehicles-the destination is just the excuse to have the fun.

15.1 miles from Durhamtown is Alexander Stevens State Park. You can see one of the proposed routes and the destination here: https://goo.gl/maps/uQtYpmipb782

Once we arrive at the State Park, we will be waved past the parking pass booth to our parking area, where prepared lunches of bbq sandwich or jumbo hot dog, (choice of 2 sides ) bake beans ,slaw and chips and a drink. Lunch will be $10 and includes the parking pass. Lunch is still $10 if you're a passenger-we are partnering with Durhamtown to provide this service and that's what they're charging. It's a flat fee. All of that $10 goes to Durhamtown-the rally is not charging anything.

So, we'll take our 15 mile convoy, stop at an area where we can eat lunch that will be ready for all of us, eat, get some pictures and be back on the road.

We have put a lot of work into putting this together to try and eliminate the time and long line issues we had at the former destination, so we really hope everyone likes it.

We're still working out some of the minor details like the route. Many years we've tried to take a different route to and from so people would get some different scenery.

Less than 2 weeks folks. I will plead this one last time. Firstly, go back through the swap thread from fron to back or search it for your posts. If you agreed to buy something, follow through. Make a note, write it on your hand or something. If you situation has changed and you can't follow through, have the courtesy to contact the seller. If you suddenly can't make the event, send a PM. Lasty, identify your AO. Put up a sign or something. Many folks covered the area last year multiple times looking for someone. We try to know folks at registations but we can't remember everyone. That works too. If it is of value, I can print a second nametag (they are stickers) for anyone that wants one for their AO or vehicle.

We still need volunteers for a few things and the biggest being trail ride leaders.

PM clinto or swbradley1 if you want the job and there are several openings.
