Water in transmission

I agree as long as it hasn't lost too much engagement. Part of the idea of helical cut teeth is to keep 2 teeth engaged at all times so that they share the load. If you run it I would recommend pulling the top plate to inspect it at some point.

I tear down the 3rd (3053A) transmission today...Front and rear mainshaft bearing come out w/o any or a very small effort ...Is this normal or the case is toast ?Thank you,G

The front and rear bearings should have a large snap ring on them which prevents them from sliding into or out of the case. The front and rear seal housings then actually squish this ring against the case which holds them in place. As long as there is no lateral movement of the bearing then the case is OK for use. This has been the method manufactures have used for decades to hold these bearings. That's why you need to use the proper gaskets on those housings to provide the proper amount of force against those rings.

My Bobopposite truck came from the base with no fluid in any axles, or transfer case it did have engine oil. The transmission had over 5 gallons of straight water. So much that it was dripping from the output shaft. I did not have time to pull it apart before the Ga rally. So I filled it up and went with it. By the end of the rally 5th gear was roaring pretty bad. I pulled it yesterday and will access it soon. Not sure how it would of gotten that much in it? Fording? The floor board was also filled with sand. Like sand from a sand bag not sand that would have been on the base naturally. Oh well we will get it straight eventually

They could have been playing in the surf with the truck. When I was in the Marines that was a favorite past time.

I think this peggs it. In the military is sometimes fun to abuse equipment. Case in point, have you seen the youtube video of the guys in Iraq rolling an M35A3? I dunno if it is still online as I haven't seen it in a couple years.

They could have been playing in the surf with the truck. When I was in the Marines that was a favorite past time.
