M923A1 Fuel Leak Around Electrical Primer

Hi Everyone,

I could use some help. I have an M923A1 that we use for our fire department. On the left side of the engine towards the rear there is a fuel line that has electrical connections out of the top of it. When the engine is running it's spraying fuel between the wires. I was hoping I could just unplug it and cap it off, but the truck doesn't run without the part plugged in.

I need some help figuring out what it does and where I can get the part from. Any NAPA part numbers would be a huge help. I've attached images of the part and it in place on the engine.IMG_1570.jpgIMG_1569.jpg

Sorry if I missed this issue somewhere else but I couldn't find anything with my search on it. Thank you guys ahead of time!

I'm guessing it's the fuel shutoff solenoid however the photos I have seen look different.

Welcome aboard.

That should be just for diagnosis.
If nothing else take it off plug hole plug sensor back up see if it will work.

And that is an A2 engine, the Cummins 6cta.
This is what I was thinking too. The diagnostic sensor on the NHC250 is on the bottom of the PT pump. I removed mine when it started leaking and it runs fine without it. I won't be of any help on the 8.3 though.

Coffey's suggestion is how I verified mine wasn't necessary to engine operation. I started the truck and unplugged it while running. I then unplugged it with the truck not running and then started it up. It didn't have any effect either way so I removed it. This was on the NHC250 though.

Thank you everyone for your help. I was able to plug the hole with a brass cap and plug the sensor back in and zip tie it up and the truck is running fine without the fuel leak. :)
