You'll have no problem registering it in GA without a title. Only 1986 and newer require a title in GA. As for the tag, are you planning on towing a trailer with it? If so, what weight?

Here's the fee schedule:
https://dor.georgia.gov/sites/dor.g.../MVD/Bulletin/MV_Schedule_Tags_and_Fees_1.pdf

You'll need at least PF plates if you're not towing anything.

I don't recall exactly the plates I got, but I want to say it's the PJ 55,000-63,280 lbs. 300.00 plate. As I plan on one day hauling a M270 trailer with the M114 on it and possibly some other stuff.

Thank you. That is very helpful. Do they only require a simple bill of sale or notarized? Do you they do inspection? I can't get mine registered in AL so I am trying to get a family member to register it in GA and use that registration to register it in AL as GA does not provide title on vehicles over 30 yrs old. Here it's 35 and since I bought it in AL it will need a title.

I can't speak for all of them, but a simple bill of sale has worked for me in my small town. They've required a T-22B form as well with a LEO to run a VIN check on it. But there's no inspections that I'm aware of.

You meant 1986 and newer.

Also, older than..... I think it's 1963 and they flat out will not issue a title, even if you have a current one from another state.

Don't forget since 2013 Ga. is charging a 7% ad valorium tax on the purchase price. Ga. no longer charges a sales tax on motor vehicles. This is an issue when a retailer such as GP charges you a 7% sales tax at purchase time ,then you pay another 7% when you purchase the tag. You can recover your sales tax from GP, however it takes some time and documentation. This should not be an issue in this case, but Ga. will get 7%. Andrew is correct, if there is no prior registration in Ga. you will only need a bill of sale, not notarized, and a T22 form which is going to require the vehicle to be physically present for the GA. LEO to certify the VIN.
