Background / comments using iPad

I have a question about using the SS forum via iPad. I usually access the SS site with my iPad because it's more convenient than my PC and has a larger screen than my phone. When trying to comment though or reply to a comment, the white text box is not visible. The green background color is all I see. The text box is there as I can see my cursor flashing, but I can't see the letters I'm typing and I can't see the quoted text, or where in the message my cursor is located. Not knowing where I am on the page makes it difficult to reply or quote.


Are you aware of any issues using this site via iPad? Has anyone else experienced the background color blocking out the text box? Any ideas or suggestions for correcting this?

At the very bottom left of the main page(there is a drop down menu), you can change background colors.

I tried to edit my recent post but because I couldn't see where I was in the text, it didn't work out. I just wanted to add, the Title box at the top shows up white against the background, so I can add a title no problem, it just appears to be the body of the message that's green, hiding the text. The best way for me to post is to write the message in Word, then copy and paste into the comments section.

I don't see anything that allows me to change the background color. Also, the background color of the website is slightly different than the background color of the message box, message box is slightly lighter. I don't think changing the website background color would affect the message box, but I'm willing to try it if I can find the link. I've attached three screen shots showing the bottom of the main page with no link to change the color, an image showing what it looks like when I hit reply and another showing what it looks like when I hit advanced reply.

And another thing! Why is the edit feature only available on 'some' of my posts? Is there a certain type of post that allows n edit feature, is it random, something I'm missing?

Certain forums (conversations is 1 of them) don't allow editing and after 60 or 90 days from when you posted you can longer edit any post .

I use "Higher Contrast" it makes the back ground a dark OD green and is easier on my old eyeballs than the --SS_v2012"green/grey. The section box is always bottom left on any page, and it seems the site defaults to the --SS_v2012.

Thanks! I guess since this is a site about military stuff, you wouldn't want to make the link obvious, or say what it is. I really appreciate the help, and for being patient enough to explain the obvious to me. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes.

I like the higher contrast also! That helped, but it didn't fix my problem. It did give me a workaround though. The high contrast makes it easier to see, but it still doesn't let me see what I'm writing when I reply or quote. The mobile version does work for that, but it's ugly and utilitarian. I'll use the high contrast for viewing, switch to mobile to reply, then switch back to high contrast. Here's a sample of both versions.

This is just a general observation, but I wanted to say everyone on this site is a rockstar in my book. The knowledge and willingness to help is amazing! Thanks for all the time and effort everyone puts into sharing info, answering questions and just generally being swell people.

Theres a lot of info here and it takes a while to get used to the format. Others have helped me, so I'm happy to help others. This site wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for the members and the mods.

Another thing to REMEMBER is that STEEL SOLDIERS. COM is mainly a INTERNET SITE, NOT a ipad/phone app, so it behaves like it should when using the internet, when used outside the internet, there will most likely be some use issues.
