I have a recently acquired an m936a2 with the 8.3.
Electric fuel shutoff is working like it should.
My question is, what causes the fuel shutoff lever return to open ?
I can start my truck, let it run for a short time, & shut it down.
When I try to restart it I have to turn batt power on, start switch to run & physically return the lever to open, before truck will start.
Is there an internal return spring ? Does fuel pressure keep it open ?
Im frustrated, please explain.

my truck does the same thing. as I start to crank it I'll pull the manual shutoff lever out a little then shove it back in real quick and it will trip the lever since the cable runs through it and the truck will fire right up. just seems there is something catching on it or the spring is getting weak.

Thank you both.
Obviously it's an "internal" spring, can it be replaced easily or is it done when IP is rebuilt ?

Im searching for exploded views of IP now.

Do you have your engine serial number handy?

Another member here had an issue with the lever-to-shaft splines. Check closely and see if that is OK.

simp, nice support. We may end up keeping you around.

Yes, I do need both of the aluminum arms that clamp to the IP shafts, return spring (internal) & ball/socket that goes on the end of the throttle cable.

Simp gets 2 thumbs up from me.
