Holy smokes, has it been over a year since I touched this thread already? Darn Goat is taking all my time away from my favorite truck. I need to make a project up for this truck so I can keep the thread alive.

You can always find somebody to do whatever you can't yourself, and those people need people like us:

- We're what you call "customers"!

I found a guy here near me to do that kind of heavy duty stitching when I need it; stumbled on him totally by accident. He's a sailmaker; most of his customer base is out of Annapolis (BIG sailing community in MD, not too far out of DC). I'm betting there's somebody like him somewhere not too far from you. You got any lake communities anywhere in your area?

This thread is great as Mike comes up with fantastic ideas - then I can poach them for my 5 ton!

What a great build. Add anything else to this truck over the past year and a half?
Thank you! I haven't touched this truck in a couple years. A lil ole Gama Goat has taken my time away from my other trucks. However, now that I'm done with the GG, I'm going to turn my focus back onto this truck. Got a couple projects brewing. Will keep you guys posted.

Nothing much to report here. I'm excited that I finally found a kind of real DUKE CREW antenna for my truck. I've started out running a look alike for the past few years. It looks fine but has just been bugging me. Then this antenna appeared on a popular website for CHEAP! And I mean CHEAP. So I had to buy one, err two, err three, err maybe it was four, nope it was definitely five;-). I don't want to disclose what I paid out of respect for those selling the antenna in this forum. I know my truck is not the correct color scheme for the DUKE. However, at this time I'm going to roll with it. As seen with the MTVR, they and many large vehicles ran two DUKES. So that's going to the the idea. My guntruck with too much crap is going to get more crap on it;)

I very much like your attention to detail. You definitely bring the M/V use/collecting up several notches. For anyone that hasn't read this tread from the beginning, get one or four beverages and start from post #1. It's infinitely better than any movie on tonight.

I copied a lot of what is in the thread on my M923.

But the antennae is tan! Are you feeling okay Mike? Wish you could have had that setup with us at the Capital last weekend. It certainly would have made a statement. met a man at the Ft. Lewis Museum yesterday that asked about the 5 tons we had at the Capital. It seems that the 1SG's truck was one of this mans motor pool trucks when they first came to the unit in 1986. It is neat to keep the history alive in this way. The only positive thing about not having you there, is that I can slack a little bit, without looking at your truck and knowing I need to do a better job. :)

I know several cases where guys ended up owning their former assigned truck as a civillian, or know who does, or would give ANYTHING to have their former assigned truck back. (In one case the guy swore to me in no uncertain terms he would make his old M936A1 his daily driver). I've actually talked to someone who helped build M939A2s.

Hi Peter, unfortunately, they're all tan. I bought a couple for the trucks. Would like to have a tan truck to really do it right. I would liked to have attended the Auburn parade and the Capital trip. However, I had the weekend shift. Hopefully next year I'll be able to participate. Oh Peter, your trucks look outstanding! Fortunately, I kept 2 out of the 6 trucks in the same condition when they left the service. Well, I may have added a couple little things here and there...well actually, I may have added for than just a little;-)
I'm getting the 5 ton cleaned up for our annual Christmas parade (actually my first local parade with a MV). The 5 ton will have 7 angels this year representing the heavenly hosts. In tow will be my little M101 with a manger scene. I just hope I don't have to back that 5 ton up with that itty bitty trailer back there.
