Yes especially if you just slipped the bone back over the insert. It may fair well if it was a good insert and it decided to walk but under a sharp turn I got a feeling that thing is gonna kick and smash that 1/8" right off. Even with the gusset it will bend it.

Or even under a hard brake and she wants to flop. There is a lot of force on those things.

This is on a deuce that the customer had someone weld the rebar over the inserts on the axle side only since those had slipped off before. Rather than replacing the insert and then welding the rebar on he just slipped it back on and then welded. This was the result after about 4 weeks of offroad use with a 500gallon fuel tank in the bed. There are a lot of forces at work there. There is a TON of torque on those inserts when hard braking.
