Hayes Axle ?

Gents I have a Zeiman 20' Tilt Deck trailer that has 2- 10 Lug axles.
I assume the axles are made by Hayes (possibly a defunct company) .
hayes-label.jpg Here is a picture of the ID label on the rearmost axle. I assume
each axle is rated at 23K EACH.

My question is am I hosed or can I get parts for these axles?
Can anyone offer insight? Immediately I would like to replace
the clear oil level hub end caps and plugs but I would like
to know a lot more about these behemoths. The bearings all
seem to be A-Ok, we lifted it and all spin well w/ no play.
There are 4 wheels per axle, 10 lug as I said.

I need 8 new tires for it too btw...

Hopefully we can use this to recover wounded trucks!
I want to add a winch.

Look like 30 standard stroke chambers. Typical auto adjusters from the pic. Most axles use common parts. Especially bearings and all the brake stuff. Webb has the market on hubs.

What size tires are they?

Oil bath caps are commonly found at trailer supply like fleetpride. 5 and 6 bolt caps

I would just pull the bearings and get the numbers. My m322 uses the same hub bearings as an 80s 1 ton chevy on the rear.

I agree with "simp5782" . Unless you need to replace the axle itself the other parts are all easily replaced and are all industry standard. The axle itself should also be industry standard and could be replaced with say a "Meritor" axle.

FleetPride or any other heavy truck parts house will have what you need.
As already mentioned, yours looks like an industry standard axle.
Even NAPA stores close to the truck stops carry lots of big rig parts that normal Napa stores don’t.

Have you contacted zieman?

They were very helpful with my trailer. They told me where to go get the parts because they no longer carried the parts for my trailer

There has been a a lot of consolidation in axle manufacturers in recent years.

Hayes axle co was acquired by AL-KO Axis inc.

The North American asserts of AL-KO Axis, inc have been acquired by Dexter.

Where do I start, well, I did not post this up cause I am lazy, I am truly stumped.

Gimp I found AxleInc, I tried calling early this AM and both numbers have no answering machine.

Simp I seek the outer clear oil lens deals with the plugs.
The clear lens's that show oil level.

Here is a pic of what I have, not standard stuff (Bruce) unless I am wrong ;

CENTERS.jpg

I so wish I had part numbers before I take things apart and plop
them down on a parts counter. Somehow I think I better find them
before I pull them off.

QF I contacted Mario at Zeiman, no reply yet.

Doghead I went to Etrailer first, they only go to 16000

QF is onto something I think...

I have been putting in honest 8 in Laguna beach w/ a 2 hour each way commute
so no time to call in the day time.

So initially I seek the oil fill len's and plug and maybe new hardware
and a gasket if it takes it, another reason I want an exploded view.

If anyone has time $20.00 via PayPal if you find me the right stuff HA!

I want to replace all 4 oil len's and plugs and gaskets I bet, and maybe hardware to, to start.

Also, I did contact Dexter, they kindly replied with this, only for they have not found more;

These are a H23, 23,000 lb axle. oil lube 10 stud 12 ¼ x 7 ½ brake

If you pull the tires off of one end of an axle you probably will find markings indicating whose hub and brake drum they used.

I was a eight point today and they had stacks of the caps there. I was also surprised that some of there prices were half of the internet

BTW, Stemco got back to me and they told me the PN
for that axle is oil hub cap #343-4009 if anyone else runs
into this.

I appreciate the help guys.
