Deuce Seat Shock

Talked to Mark Boyce today, he does not have anymore. Anyone have a source for these? It's a Gabriel Part #615116, Googled, no luck, discontinued p/n. Renovating my seat (pictures to follow) and would like to replace this item.

M-35Tom has posted a snowmobile shock as a alternate replacement shock. Search for "seat shock" in the deuce forum.

Yes, I did a search, but didn't care for the imported shock. I read the thread also and it said you had to ream the bushings out a little larger. I just would like an exact replacement if possible. I will try NAPA again, but the Gabriel p/n is discontinued.

Ok, just wanted to be sure you knew of the other posts here. I had no luck finding them elsewhere. I called Gabriel with the part number and they said the number was discontinued(when I was looking for them about a year ago). I did get mine from Boyce(glad I did when I did). Good luck finding them, post up what you find.

Yeah, I know you got yours from Boyce, I read through all the threads. There were supposed to be about 22 of them left at that time. I'll keep searching and post with my results.

not that it helps the topic any, but maybe it will help someones back until we can find some shocks. i had a bad shock in mine. i drive off road alot and im a fat guy. you can feel every pebble in the road with the bad shock. i got sick and tired of getting my spine spiked tot he floor every time i went over bumps so i pulled out my seat and set it on my shop floor. with a zip tie positioned on the shock rod i very carefully and slowly sat on the seat and then got off. i took the shock off and measured how much the shock closed and made a solid bar to go in its place. it works beautiful. no more sore back for now. becareful when taking out the shock, it holds the seat spring in the seat frame.

The Gabriel has "Made in Canada" stamped on it.

I'm beginning to wonder if anything is made in the US anymore. I got some Federal Mogul bearings the other day, were made in China. I wish there was someplace that listed US made stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to use an air bag like they use on vehicles? I would think that you could use one and adjust the air presser. Just thinking out loud.

i seen on that stupid show "pimp my ride" on mtv where they took an airbag and fit it under a bucket seat in a chevy truck to adjust the ride height for a short driver.

Just got an email from Paul at Memphis Equipment. They stock the Deuce seat shocks to the tune of $64.44 each. Seem kinda proud of them, wouldn't you say? My desire says get it now, my wallet says look around.

What is sad is the service industry(parts) is getting worse and worse. All of our manufacturing is going across the border or overseas and we are expected to servive on service which doesn't seem to be happening here. When I was a teenager, I could go through the parts in the back at the local parts store and we could find something that would maybe work with a little modification. These days companies keep inventories so slim and the employees they hire for Min wage won't go out of the way to help. With internet I guess its up to us to research all the specs of different Mfg to find something we can use. Not to be all negative,
I get an occasional great experience, but fewer and fewer.

In my opinion, the older style box seat is actually more comfortable. If you can't find the shock, swap out the seat. Most guys don't want the box seat and you can probably get one really cheaply. I don't go so far as swap out the "air-ride" seats, but I also don't worry if my truck has the box seat as I like it better.

MUDLORD: the box seat will give you a bit more room behind the steering wheel. If you are coming to Aberdeen, find a guy with a box seat in his deuce and give it a try.

I am not the "smallest knife in the drawer", but definetly prefer the spinger seat. Had a box seat in my assigned vehicle in Germany, liked the storage, but messed with my back. Both have their advantages.

i'm sitting here holding a new one in my hand. about $23 and very easy to modify to fit. front ski shock for snowmobile part # 04-237 i have used these and they are as close as you will ever find to original.

Wasn't there some talk about reaming the bushings out, special jig to the shock while reaming? I thought it got kinda complicated real quick, so I was leaning toward exact replacement. My mind could be changed though, $64 plus shipping for a new one. How much do they need to be reamed? Who is the manufacturer on that Tom?
