Thanks. i know it is in the TM but i can't access it right now. 888 pounds seem to be about right. anyone ever lift one with chains?? are the only lift points on the four corners of the skids??? i have never been around an mep 802a and need to unload one sometime today. sure would be nice to have a sticky on these machines

I used a tractor with forks to bolt mine onto a trailer. If you plan on using a cherry picker you'll need some spreader bars to prevent pinching the top of the case. You can fork it from either side.

Yeah don't want to squeeze the case and distort the metal. It does have an integrated skid... you could always put down plywood or something onto ramps and just pull the thing off the trailer. It will slide... just have to get it moving first!

Or get a couple pipes under it and roll it , 3 or 4 work better so you can keep moving them as they roll out.

You can just slide them down a tilted trailer. I have moved one around on a wood deck trailer alone. Steel it would slide easier. There prety robust units and once on the ground can be pulled around by the D rings.

Thanks. I have a forklift and a front loader with forks. the tractor won't quite lift a ton so i thought i had better check before i just took the tractor. looks like the tractor will be fine.

I really thought we had progressed a little further on, then this. Why didn't I just burn the books.

If you just have to use chains, take two 2X4's and cut them a tad longer then the width, (yes, that too is on the data plate on the set, and in the TM's) of the gen set. Notch them on each end. Hook the chains up. Pull out the slack and insert the 2X4's to hold the chains apart and keep the housing from being crushed. Normally it will not crush. but sometimes you just never know. If fuel is in the set, the weight will also change.

Thanks fellas! i didn't mean to set off a debate over the TM. everything is fine as i have forks for tractor and a forklift to use. i have never even seen an mep802a in person and i knew the folks here were full of vast experience on them. i understand how to use spreader bars and slings cradles and such because i used to have a crane business. i just wanted to be prepared so the man delivering the set wouldn't have to wait while i get my act together. i was short tempered earlier and that was my mistake and i wish i hadn't posted when i did. sorry for that. i appreciate all comments and they all were of great help Thanks again
