MEP 002A Oil cooler lines

I had an oil cooler hose blowout while running the generator recently and while I appreciate the rust preventative that it provided by spraying a mist of oil 6 feet away, I'd like to fix it. I took the hoses to our local hose place "Hose of South Texas" who I thought would have no problem making copies. They said this hose type is obsolete and the new hose is a different diameter therefore the fittings won't work with it. It sounds like my best option is to replace the fittings on the generator itself to use modern hose and fittings? The generator is currently a 4.5 hour drive away so I can't get to the fittings right now. Any insight on either replacement lines or replacing the fittings on the generator side?

Thanks
-Dan

This is the tech data for one of the fittings for the oil cooler system. If you went to the -24P TM and told me what fittings you wanted to know about, I could look and see if the data for those parts is still listed. Then you would at least know what size the fitting is that screws into, lets say the engine, or oil cooler.

I have a parts machine with the shroud off, let me take a look tonight and see if I can tell what you would need to do to adapt it to modern fittings.
There is someone on ebay selling a whole kit and the lines look like either 90* SAE or JIC flare swivels on both ends, which are both easy to get. I'll see if I can verify that as well as if there are adapters in the motor that you could change to something else.
I like going to www.discounthydraulichose.com and you can build your own custom hoses for cheap, and they stock every imaginable type of fitting.

There is currently an oil hose listed on eBay if you look under "MEP-002a oil hose". Not sure its the one you need though... its PN: 501-0173 NSN#: 4720-01-048-9074

Edit: As Ray70 pointed out there is a complete oil cooler kit with hoses on eBay listed as "Oil Cooler mod. kit MEP-002A/3A mil Gen-set 2815-01-049-1189". You can zoom up on the last picture & it shows the hoses & fittings very clearly.

humm... that hose looks different than the hoses in the oil cooler kit the other person is selling. In the add for the kit it also appears that the fittings are brazed onto the cooler itself, meaning you will not be able to change that to something different. I'll look when I get home and see what I can determine.

In the 24P manual (dated Aug 31,1996 document pages 128/129) it shows the oil cooler and hoses as an assembly item 11: NSN 2815-01-049-1189 Cooler Assembly, Oil MFG P/N 102-0839

So there is not a breakout of the oil cooler hoses or fittings provided.

It's one of these guys on the right of the image. I've got a pic of the line that I brought home with me, just waiting for it to upload. Will attach in a bit.
