I just did a search..... failed.

Looking for your paint prep and the exact paint people are using. I think it was house paint from Behr?

Also, most trucks I see have the paint pealing off of the plastic and rubber parts. How do you prevent this? Is that a CARC issue and the house paint won’t do that?

I use the CARC substitute from MullinsJeepParts.com. Super flat like real CARC.

That is a good looking truck!

How tough is the paint? Do you need to touch up for any other reason than scratch repair?

Looks really good.

I am starting desert tan and 95% of the paint is good. M1083 for scale. So, I will stick to that color.

There is the standard spray paint when it went to auction. I plan to try to remove that. Not sure if that will accomplish anything but smear it.

There are a few nicks in the paint where the ladder holes are and on the bumperets that are minor.

And , there is a decent size dent on the front I need to fix. With that said, I need to come up with a touch up or full paint plan. If I had good matching paint, I would just touch it up.

So, if only the cab needs paint, the rest only touch ups...... does it make sense to use CARC and spend the money? One gallon probably will be enough.

Is CARC superior enough to be worth it?

I may at some point paint the entire thing at a later date if I change colors, just trying to make the tan not look all nasty rattle canned and stained.

Not trying to steal the thread but it kind of goes along with the original posters question. What is the best paint to use after you have just had something completely sandblasted? Obviously applying first an epoxy primer.

If I'm going to the expense of having something completely sandblasted, I'm probably going to have it shot with a zinc type primer and CARC immediately afterwards.

Agree with 98G regarding painting after sandblasting. A good couple of coats of CARC or a sturdy enamel.

BEHR is great for those worried about spraying a multi-formula paint as you simply add some water and maybe a little flow assistance product and you don't have to worry about breathing in a bunch of chemical catalysts. It's also handy for those vehicles that don't match US military colors such as my Israeli M37. I was able to simply take an example of the color to them and they matched it.
