Humvee antenna that fits the as 3900 base ?

Does anyone know or have the antenna that fits on AS-3900 antenna base and what number antenna is that?

In my experience the two halves are usually just marketed on eBay and other sites as AS-3900 antenna parts.

My bottom half is marked ASSY A3018230-1, my top half I cannot find any markings. A google search shows the upper half is A3018230-2.

There are a few vendors selling new in bag AS-3900 sets, base and both halves, for just over $200. Hard to beat those prices.

Yea i got turned down by the 2 on ebay and the nice folks at RAMI sent me a quote OMG dont ask lol so i will just have to wait till i stumble on 1 and thanks again for the info

Does it have to be the real deal? Most if not all of the so called military antenna are not going to work well with civilian radio products like AM-FM broadcast radios or CB / Ham set-up. Lot of reasons why and not enough time to explain... but clearly over priced unless one has to have the look, or is operating in the frequency they were designed for.

( Note: Most CNR "combat net radio" system are not looking to communicate to the ends of the world. Just around the immediate battle field / conflict area. No need to broadcast to far or likely to be direction found and receive mortars from the sky.

Here's my suggestion for one that will run circles around the military dummy load antennas and work on the cheap.

Figure out what you want to hear or talk to. AM-FM, CB, HAM or all with some designs ? Cut a round plate to match the base of existing military antenna location. Drill / cut hole to accommodate your antenna and the four corner 3/8 holes. Follow standard mounting / routing / cabling supplied.

There are good / rugged antennas for CB like the fiberglass short and longer whips and gain antennas for Ham rigs that will outperform "military cool" for cheap. (remember the old ball and spring whips... that will work too!)

Next flat black or green paint, CAMO / WA6VVC / WA6CAM

I did want the tall 3900 look but i was going to do a little experimenting the 3900s start at the 30 mgh range i normaly play from 25 to 29 range anyway its so close i might could do a little tuning and see what i could get out of it and if not put 102 in whip on the back if i had to get serious

It's good to experiment... Been there done that. Those antennas are poor performers like 7 to 10 dB down at 30 mHz. A little better at the high end of 88 mHz BUT still less that unity. The 25 to 29 mHz range covers CB and the 10 meter amatuer band. Broadband antennas at these frequencies are poor performers.

The AS-1729 used a electromechanical tuner in the base under control from the VRC-12 series rigs. SINCGARS system went with the broadband antenna designs AS-3900 to support the FH mode. Frequency Hop keeps the bad guys from hearing the good guys.

Antennas and radios is more that just a "coat hanger" concept. I could say "See the TM" here, BUT see this and get ready for what goes into a antenna.

When all components work together well (resonates) the power comes and goes where needed.

ALSO... those tall fiberglass whips like to take out the lights at Jack In The Box and gas stations. Never done that
