Transmission stall? Torque converter?

Good evening,
I'm not in the habit of doing this often and rarely go off road anymore, but could anyone help this.
Over the years I've noticed that when under load my m1009 sometimes feels like it just stalls out and wont put power to the wheels.
Most recently I felt like just popping over a curb. From a dead stop, flush against the curb the blazer couldn't even push itself up and over. The motor wouldn't rev up and it was as if the trans just stalled out and would not put any power out. Even in 4wd. Couldn't go over a curb from a dead stop. I had to put it in low range. I had noticed this years earlier while driving off road on steep incline. Just could push it self up.
These trucks aren't that weak and the gearing so high that this is normal right?
Bc I do not find myself experiencing this often I've never bothered to look into it. What gives? The truck is otherwise healthy and I'm running 33's.

Could possibly be the torque converter. I have new in the box ones if you decide to swap it out. Just send a pm.

I think the answer is right there in your post "The motor wouldn't rev up ", your not going to be curb hopping if your engine is performing poorly.

Not sure about that. Engine rev's and drives just fine at idle. Pulls fine going down the road.

I am mostly rep]lying to follow this thread in case there is an answer to your question. I would have to say that my guess would say not enough torque for whatever reason from motor. Usual torque converter failures are slippage relAted but I suppose something could be binding under load and loading/locking somehow and the motor is not able to push through it? Kind of far fetched maybe.... perhaps there is a dyno in your area you can spend some time on before throwing parts at it?

Probably has a lot to do with 3:1 gears and 33” tires. Add the fact that the first gear in a TH400 isn’t that low.
