I have been looking for jack stands for my HMMWV and I have not been successful. The ones I bought from Sears are not tall enough. I thought of using 6 × 6 railroad timber to get more height from my existing jack stands but I want to check with you all to see if you have a better approach. Please post pictures of HMMWV on jack stands if you have any.

I would like to get a good idea for the recommended location to place the jack stands under the HMMWV.

Thank you

Get the BIG bad ones at Harbor Freight. Cheap insurance and sturdy. Park them under the frame rails as needed. If your're working the hubs, stack the tires and flip them under the cross members (easier said, back up)... AND skip the exploding cinder blocks and splitting tree stumps.

100% agree! I purchased them as well and they’re extremely good stands.

Check out tractor supply. They sell ones with a built in bottle jack. They are awesome and adjustable height arm with pin. Super nice feature is that they also have a safety latch in case of failure. Makes regular jack stands and bottle jacks obsolete imho.

I bought the Harbor Freight 12 Ton Jack Stands. They work well, but the Tractor supply jack stands with built in bottle jack look like a great idea. What type of jack are you using? I've been using the low profile high lift Daytona Jack from Harbor freight with a 4x4 spacer. Most jacks don't come close due to the ground clearance.

I’ve been using a regular jack with a bunch of 2x4 nailed together to give me the extra height!

I too am using a high lift with jack stands. Only time I ever had an issue with it was the first time I tried the jack out and I forgot to chock the wheels...

I just use a suicide jack (high lift) and some 6 ton jack stands from Tractor Supply that are tall enough to keep the wheels off the ground.
Only try to do one side at a time, not in the center, or you might find out why they are referred to as "suicide jacks"
