@TAMU86 scored a S-318/G shelter that needed to be moved this weekend. Our plan was to use the winch on his Jeep to get the shelter on my trailer. The recovery went extremely smooth. It only took 1.5 hours to drive to the shelter, load it and get back home. Very rarely do things go according to plan, but they did today!

As an added bonus for me, this was the first time I got to use the snatch block I bought at the Texas Rally a couple years back! I’m pretty sure we did not exceed the weight limit on the snatch block.:-D

Nice! Are you going to build it back into a AN/GRC-142 ratt shack? Your has (had) the A/C unit, wish mine had that.

NDT...

Sorry for the late reply.

No plans for setting up a radio shack.

At this time I simply planning to turn it into a hunting cabin to go on a M1102 trailer. Maybe some DC power with solar on top... and an AC circuit that can be feed from shore power and/or small generator.

It looks like it has small poles on the side of the roof for a canopy support. Will have to research that... As well as layout plans for the interior.

Let me know your thoughts....

Yup deer cabin is a good continued use for that one, given every single item is removed from the interior. I won mine from a DRMO auction at Ft Hood back in the 90’s, glad I kept mine inside or I now know what 30 years of sitting outside would do to it.

Does yours have any of the radio equipment?

Okay.... we recovered a dirty shelter, TAMU86 got after it with the pressure washer, and we unloaded a much cleaner shelter at his storage unit. Mission completed!

A homemade platform with four furniture dollies and plywood worked perfectly for unloading and moving the shelter. One person can push it around on a concrete floor.

Now it’s time for TAMU86’s camper build!

I started off dedicating an 1101 to my S788 camper project but went ahead and made a trailer with a Dexter axle. Yours will look better painted....and/or on the back of an HMMWV.
