I have a M54 that was purchased with the front brakes disconnected. I am interested in knowing if possible could I swap over to the later style front airbrake drums since the truck is converted to Scam rear brakes.

Yes. Easiest route would be to get a complete axle to swap over. Has all of the parts and bolts in.

I have a complete front axle In Memphis. Could have it brought to new Iberia next week.

You would need the steering assist cylinder as well I'm sure

Steering components on the axle you have can be swapped to an air brake axle.

M39 and m939a0/1 axles share the same hub, bearing, seal setups.

Different drums, backing plates, and of course air tubes and brakes.

So basically find drums. Brakes. Backing plates etc for both sides. Or just swap in an axle and swap the steering arm on the axle.

M39 manuals are horrible. Took me a bit to piece Everything together of what was the same and wasn't

The M39/M809-series and M939/M939A1-series hubs are dissimilar. The latter are narrower on the spindle housing.
