M101 Trailer Replacement Shocks

I know there have been many posts in the past regarding replacement shocks for the M101 trailers, but I can’t find any recent threads regarding this subject. The main direct replacement shock that everyone seems to have agreed upon is the Monroe 32283, which has been discontinued. The Monroe 37114 has also been mentioned, which seems to be available. Before I buy, I would like to know what the current, readily available, direct replacement shock is for this trailer. Meaning no modification necessary. Just take off the old shocks and put the new shocks on. Any comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

You answered your own question there. The Monroe 37114 is readily available. They're even available on Amazon but I'd still call your local parts shop and compare prices.

In September of 2017 I put Monroe Shocks #37114 on my M101A1 trailer. There's probably other shock sizes and part numbers that would fit, but it is what I used and it worked for me. Before I sold that trailer in 2019, I moved the suspension shocks to my new M101A3 trailer. These same shocks even fit my larger M105A2 trailer. To be clear, they require zero modification and are a direct fit, but I recommend reusing the curved washers between the bolt and bushing, just make sure you turn the curved washer the correct way (it should curve toward the shock bushing) -- and, of course, make sure the shocks are oriented so the sleeve between the two halves is pointed downward - to prevent collecting water and debris inside.

Here's the shocks when I put them on my M101A1 trailer:

The 37114 has the correct bushing style that OE uses.

All specs can be seen here:

It looks to me that Monroe moved this shock from the monroe matic mid level line to their premium line and of course more $ as they are now very proud of it. :-(
