Side marker lights

[HMMWV V]

Hi all. New to this, just got a 94 M998 and decided to change out side lights to LED. They stopped working. I have voltage at the wire harness to ground but no light. Was told to change all my lights to LED, didn't try that yet. Any ideas? Thanks.

LED lights are diodes that only pass current in one direction unlike incandescent lights. If you've gotten the wires reversed they won't work.

They came pre wired withone end being a packard connector and the other being an eyelet for ground. Any other ideas, thanks for the response!

Next question especially on a HMMWV, where did you ground it? The hood on a hmmwv is plastic and plastic is not a conductor of electricity (generally). HMMWV wiring systems typically have a ground wire as a part of their wiring harness just for that reason. Make sure you tied the ground to something that really is a ground and not just some bit of metal that was sticking out somewhere.

Have you done any basic checks to see if you actually have 24 volts going to the lights? If you do and they still don't light up it's either a bad ground or reversed polarity to the light. This assumes they sold you good lights to begin with and most dealers are fairly careful about where they get their products and buy tested material.

Just cut ends off of light fixtures and made the negative side positive and they worked, they came wrong from the factory. Thanks again!

Sounds like these might be some kind of civilian lights that someone incorrectly installed the military connector on.

Kind of unusual for a major vendor to make this type of mistake. They should pull their stock and test all of them.
