Rocking back and forth

Is it normal when I apply the brakes and come to a complete stop that the Humvee rocks back and forth before it settles?

Yes. Happens because of the straight cut gears in the hubs. The Alpha had bevel cut gears which fixed it. Super noticeable on the show “Renegade” where they drove the H1 like a sports car.

It is mainly because you have two constant velocity joints and a gear set between the brakes and each of the wheels, they all have backlash and that is what you feel.

You will learn to ease off the pedal when you stop, to minimize rocking.
It is barely noticeable in serial numbers 300,000 and up. Helical cut gears.

Sorry I do not mean to hijack this thread but speaking of ECV gears, what parts TM are they in? I was thinking 387-24P but no

ECV or REV?
It may just list the entire hub as a different part.
2320-387-24p. There was an update for that Tm around 2007 or 2009 ,to add the REV parts.
Try to find TM 2320-335-13&p. That was the initial manual for the REV before the -387 update.
