ABS malfunction

Hi, i have a 1984 M929 dumptruck, suddenly the ABS lamp wont go off after start up like it should do.... This happened suddenly and the ABS dont work properly..... Where to start trouble shooting, any known issues ? I also have a problem wit oil leaking out of the hub on both right side rear hubs...... so i guess i have gotten oil on my brake shoes also........ Any idea what i need to order for rebuilding ? Is there any Parts catalogs out there ?

Weak batteries will frequently cause ABS failure. Even batteries that crank the truck fairly well.
Batteries are 100 % good, almost new..... has happened 1 time earlier but went off after restart.... how do i check wheel speed sensors ? Can it be air drier filter issues ?

Check the fuse under dash?
Check codes on your abs?

Drier not tied into abs wiring or sensors.

Tm's are available here on site. They will help you with part numbers and repair guides.

You don't have the scanner for that.

Fuse is behind the light in the colored harness 4amp fuse.

There is a 15amp fuse on the red Wire #10 in the harness for the abs. #10 gets its power from pin D at the pcb plug that is wire #5 branches and becomes wire 10 in the cab. Wire 5 powers the dash main switch

I dont have the scanner, do you know where to Get it , does an truck Garage have this scanner or is it special to this trucks ? There are not to many trucks like this in Norway.

Would be interested in how this thing works and how easily (or not) it might be to diagnose the problem you have.
Pictures maybe? Your interpretation of what it told you?
It works fantastic. It provides enough detail to go straight to the fault. It has saved me in two instances of being able to go right to the problem. The MSD-ICE also has the reader/cable if you have the software.

Well, I guess I should go investigate what it would take to buy one. My fault light has been on since I got the truck. I have been steadily fixing other things and just haven't gotten to that point. That is on my M936. Brakes work well. I just presume the "idiot protection" isn't working on that vehicle.

I noticed yesterday that the M1088 has a fault light too and it sometimes comes on, then goes back off. That one I am guessing to be a ground (who knows where). May have been happening because most of the time I run in the daylight. It was hot yesterday, so I waited for sundown...

Correct me because I am old and can not remember a thing. Thought the 939 series truck had the inner grease seal changed to the seal installed in the hub?

The A2 yes, the A1, is like the 809 series axles, or at least that is my understanding from reading the tm when i replaced my seals and converted from grease packed bearings, to oil bath.

Havent put it out on the road enough to get the axles warmed up enough to see if they pop and leak oil over everything. Iv only done the 5 mile loop and didnt get above 45mph for anytime longer than a min.

So you were able to install the newer grease seal in the A1 hub and wiper ring on the spindle. That is a good up grade for the A1. Do not know if you did a right up with pics thread but it is or could be a good one for A1 owners.
