I just recently purchased a 1977 m880. Is there any way to identify what branch of the military the truck was used in? Trying to repaint and redo the truck to look original not sure what branch it was inn. So I know what route to go

Go to post 11 and 12 and see if you can find your truck listed. If so that means your truck was US Army which 95% were. Then you have 3 choices, as delivered factory OD (see behind the seat to match), 4 color MERDC camouflage, or 3 color NATO camouflage. Oh and welcome to the site, love the 880s.

Echoing @NDT 's Welcome to the Site!

Happy to have you here as a member. Be sure to take pictures of what you have and post them up for the rest of us. Don't worry if it needs paint or body work. Heck, but 5-Ton looked like a bucket of rust when I got it... I've been steadily making fixes, wire brushing, rattlecan painting and - one day - a squirt of real paint is in my future.

If you have goals to go with the pictures, post them up as well.
Thanks for stopping by...

Mine is a 76, and was Army. But, I served in the Air Force during those years, and these things were running all over the base. The Security Police ran them, and those were either Olive Drab, or Air Force Strata Blue with yellow stenciled markings. Most of them that ran on the flight line where I was most the time were the Strata Blue. I was an aircraft electrician and drove a strata blue IH step van as most of the aircraft maintenance trucks were, but the cops out there drove Jeep CJs or M880s in strata blue. That said, I plan on painting mine in Air Force Stata Blue with the yellow stenciled markings.
