Hello all, I have searched for what this wire is, but can’t find anything about it. Below are some photos:

The list of military vehicle wire codes:

The plate with 348 C code. View from the top behind the alternator.

I wouldn't go by that first list pic posted above. Use the HMMWV TM for real wire details. There is a 249C under the alternator, but it has nothing to do with steering or oil temp (as shown on that list). I cant see the numbers in your pics. If it is 349, then it should go to a plug with another wire, to the rpm sensor.

Definitely 348C
i posted 2 photos of it because it is hard to see. No manual focus on cameras these days. If you look at them long enough, you can make out the 3 and more so the 4. The 8 and C are pretty clear.

348C comes from F on the TCM j1 plug (AC request). The loose end of the wire should just have what looks like a plug in it. It is some kind of electrical diode in the newer trucks. You could also have a 3rd wire with a plug near the horn (258B), and another near the transmission.

Thanks again action. I did see it somewhere that it was “AC request (not used)” somewhere. Also it explains why I don't see metal wire at the tip of the wire yet it forms like a metal wire when I bend it.

That is not a diode, would serve no purpose as a diode has and uses two leads, that is just a blank plug to keep the connector from shorting to anything.
