1971 M818 that I did Super single swap with 16.00r20's.

Hello all, I have a 1971 M818 that I did Super single swap with 16.00r20's. The problem I have is that the left front tire hits the steering box.
I used wheels from mrap , does anyone have or had same problem or know the solution?

I have a set of aluminum HEMTT rims,they take a flat washer lug nut instead of cone style.
Are those ones going to fit?

I've never seen an aluminum hemtt rim. There's two kinds and both are steel and ungodly heavy. One kind is pictured on my truck above. We have the other kind on a buddy's M818. Pics in a bit.

Take a photo of the different MRAP or HEMTT wheels you have. There are several types, some may or may not work.

They Hemtt wheels WILL stick out a little further, but the wheels will be within the 8'6" maximum width. Also, you might have to adjust your will stops. Mine barely rubs the pitman arm when turning hard left.

Agree. The latest HEMTT rims are the ones on my M925. They're 2 piece bolt together and work well on 809series and 939series trucks with 16.00R20s.

Appear to be LMTV rims. Same as 5ton combat rims except have twice as many bolts holding the two halves together.

Suitable for use on M809series and M939series trucks when using 14.00R20s or 395s. Will rub when used with 16.00's.

I posted some pics back in April of how my old Goodyear tires sat on HEMTT steel wheels. Front sticks out just a bit and rears are tucked in just a bit. Several others posted some pics of what they have. From the questions answered there, many run HEMTT steel wheels on the front and combat rims on the back.

5 Ton wheel tire combo to have best scrub radius/track width match with 16.00 tires.

What bead lock rims on a 5 ton will get a 16.00 tire to mount with near perfect scrub radius? Also it looks like some rims /hub flipping etc... cause a significant offset to the track width of the front and rear axle as shown below on a M54ish ride. What combination of wheels gets this...
