Hey guys. I just got an 802A. It's got about 20 hours on it. Not a reset. Does not have the fuse or the MOV, but those parts on the way. I know the oil has been replaced so I ordered some JD break in oil. I'm planning to do the fuse and MOV, get some fresh fuel in it, top off coolant and load it up nice and hot for a while. I've got a 5kw water heater element with a "power knob" to control its output. Thought this might make a great load bank. Anything else I want to check out before I put this machine to the test? Right now it runs great and makes power from the convenience ports.

I do plan to check well nuts at some point but the tank is full with no leaks right now. Soft fuel lines look pretty recent, so someone was putting in some work on it.

Thanks!

The well nut on the unit I bought made it half way across the county to me, sat and ran without leaking perfectly. I managed to flex the fuel line just a little while taking the batteries out to look around, and it started leaking after that.

I imagine it's more an issue of when, rather than if it will fail.

I'm not sure there's a lot you could check, it leaks or doesn't. I'd say just plan on doing it, and at the same time do the other maintenance that requires having the enclosure opened up. You don't want to do that more than you have to. (I didn't, so I'm going to have to go back in to get at the fuel/water separator)

In addition to your list already running:

-Add fresh filters and a coolant flush to your list of goods to do when you do your oil change
-check your fan belt and keep a spare close at hand
-if you have rodent problems where you live, consider proofing your enclosure with the 1/4" expanded mesh sheets. There's a proper name, but it escapes me.
-a thing some have done is to add the NOCO dual bank charger/maintainer...they make nice stuff.

You may want to keep the needed service items for the run duration of fuel quantity you plan to keep on hand.

For sure on the "rat wire". I do have mice/rats but fortunately the barn cats that live in the barn where I'll keep the machine are pretty good at their job. Cant be too careful, though.
