Tried to change the main shaft seals on my Injection pump due to it leaking fuel from the pump weep hole.
Bought the seal rebuild kit and replaced seals that looked worn put it back together just installed and tried to start it without the intake manifold connected to be able to see if there are any fuel leaks. now when the truck starts the engine races to the point, I have to turn it off right away tried this 3 times with the same outcome. Is this the engine runaway condition that I've read about even though the engine turns off with the start run switch? I've read that if you put the top cover on wrong you can get a runaway condition but I'm pretty sure that is on correct but before I go and check I was wondering if this is truly a runaway condition or if anyone knows on what might need an adjustment. Thanks...
