Using a REV B parts truck for an ECV

Hey all, good day. I purchased a REV B M1165A1 parts truck (mainly for rear wall, roof, etc) for my ECV M1165A1 (with SN 244k). I have read all the posts about the differences between the trucks (pre versus post 300k SNs etc) and realize none of the mechanical/structural enhancements can me moved to the ECV, but my question is:

What functional parts/components CAN and SHOULD be moved from the REVB truck, and installed on the ECV, in your humble opinion?

Body panels are the same, but things like the cooling stack, fan drive, transfer case, differentials are different and can’t be transferred over. Well, I guess they could but it wouldn’t be worth it - if your ecv trucks runs and drives you shouldn’t need much. You’d probably be better off taking the few parts off you need and reselling the revb truck.

What is a REV B truck? REV stands for "Reliability Enhanced Vehicle" its not a "revision".

Anything can be swapped from one generation humvee to another, if you replace enough parts. But personally I don't think are big advantages moving from an ECV to a REV. I agree with the previous poster, if it aint broke dont fix it.

Shoot man, you should be fixing up the later truck and parting out the older turbo.
I considered this, but most I hear about the REV trucks from guys that have them is "though they are the latest & greatest, the parts are expensive and hard-to-find", whereas the ECVs are tried-and-true, with easy/inexpensive maintenance.

I’ve had both and to me the rev truck seems to ride better and is more enjoyable as built (the fan/cooling difference is huge). But I like them original - it’s easy to upgrade that stuff, but since you have a gmv I’d keep it original. Don’t migrate stuff from a gmv to an 1165, that makes no logical sense.

That's what I'm thinkin... here are the two trucks:

ECV GMV w/VIN of 242XXX: M1165A1WB3
REV Truck w/VIN of 313XXX: M1165A1

Would you restore the GMV, or get the REV running and migrate everything to it?
I'd 100pct restore the GMV versus moving things around. I just looked at the pics - it's a darned shame that Yermo pulls the penalty boxes off of those trucks. At least Albany doesn't remove them from the trucks they get.

Yeah the REV's serpentine belt being all wrapped up leads me to hope that maybe the AC Compressor siezed up and snapped the belt. Just hoping that's all it needs to get the REV truck running. If so, I'll definitely not cannibalize it too much.

That REV truck was basically given to you free at that price. Both look like good trucks I would try to get them both running and go from there. Trade the REV to RWH before tearing it apart.

I thought ECV started at serial number 250k and had 80 MPH speedometer, among other things?

Look them both over and go from there. Only unique parts I see on the GMV are the front and back bumper, roof rails, and accessory in front of the cadillac valve? Cut some troop seats to finish the bed walls and you have a GMV.

Or the Rod Hall suspension, or the on-board air compressor, or the auxiliary fuel tank, or, or, or. They're not a regular humvee with different furniture.

No, you don't. Especially on an M1165.

You can build out whatever you want, but I'm going to guess that a guy whose screen name is "GMVguy" probably cares about the details of his GMV. You can have the real thing, properly documented as having been so - or you can build one out and while it's desirable, the long-term value isn't the same. I liken it to building an M1D sniper rifle and then having one that was properly documented as being original and legitimate via a CMP/DCM sale - the rifle with the documented history will always have more value.
