Hi there I know there was a post similar to this and I read it but it didn't quite answer all my questions. Sorry I'm a newbie this is my first post here and I'm playing with the idea of buying a military truck and there's three possibilities but due to differences I will probably wind up with two trucks eventually. Here's my predicament I live in North Florida where three hurricanes hit Idalia, Deby, Helene I've had to clean up about 50 trees I also own a mobile home park and I've had several taken out by trees falling on them. The idea is hopefully I can kill three birds with one stone so to speak. I have a big tractor with a front end loader and a backhoe That's how I've been cleaning up most of the trees so 1) I want a truck to tow My tractor which is easy for any of these. 2) they want a minimum of $6,000 just to move a mobile home and I have five of them. I have a big open field on my property it'd be nice if I had a truck that was capable of dragging the destroyed mobile homes 100 yd over grass to the open field. And 3) Cool Factor. I would only need the truck for work once every other year to twice a year kind of thing That's why I didn't think it was worth buying an f-550 for something I would rarely use.
=====================================
So the trucks that I like:
1) m35a2
2) m54
3) m813,814 or some variant I think I like the longer bed but not sure.
I think the M35 multi-fuel is cool and it probably get the best mile per gallon I think 11ish but I'm not sure if it would tow the mobile home some people say yes some people say no. Well then I go to the m54 again the multi-fuel is cool I like that idea and the m54 data plate and the m 813 data plate both say they can tow 30,000 lbs on the highway so it would seem the strength is the same at first. But it's my understanding the m813 engine is stronger but I don't know if it's a little bit stronger or a whole lot stronger? Is it possible to put a bigger turbo on the m54 and make it stronger?
So that leaves me with probably the truck I should buy is an m813 or an m814 but I lose my multi-fuel cool factor. I guess what it is If I knew for a fact the m54 could tow the mobile home a hundred yards I think I'd rather have that but if it can't then I'd rather have m813. I guess my problem is I don't know if the m54 can do it or not? Also I believe the M35 it would be easier to get parts but I'm not sure if it's that much different for the other two.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I hope my rambling made some sense I guess my problem is I'm trying to make a decision and I don't have the needed information.
Thank you
