Still not sure, I contacted GL and they said to make sure you check the serial numbersw on (I think she said frame) after a vehicle is purchased before filling out the SF-97 paperwork.

In a perfect world all this stuff would be captured and the military would have absolutely no personnel that would screw up or not be so tired that they didn't feel like going out and checking something.

I guess the actual question is, if you have a 1965 Mustang that is rusted out, you pull everything off and replace it with new or NOS parts, what year is the car? 2009 or 1965? What you think it is, is not necessarily what a receiving clerk may think it is in the military. They see a brand new vehicle, everything new.

The state for registration purposes is gonna consider the date of the frame as the date of manufacturer.

Look at the bright side, at least it wasn't the band. Most CUCVs after Desert Storm did not serve forward of the (theoretical) division rear area. You won't find too many vehicles from real combat units since they gave them up in the early 90's and passed all these CUCV's to the support units. Exceptions are there especially in the NG but few. Those units that did used them more for their speed, ease of maintenance, and cost effectiveness state side.

To be accurate, I would call them up or send a letter to them. Frankly the command would probably be happy to respond if they realized you weren't some loony looking to bust through the front gate.
