Would like to change the gearing on my M1031, will be using stock size tires. I changed a M1008 I had to 3.73 and it worked fine, my concern with the 1031 is the weight, 9200lbs, don't want it to be a dog. Thanks.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Agreed. My 4.10, I've been very happy running 4.10 in my trucks. And if you ever go bigger tires 3.73 are going to kill you.
Hard to argue with that.I'd almost bet it would be cheaper to go to the 700R4 and add a deeper first gear and a .70 OD. You would keep your out of the hole power, actually increase it a bit and add the .70 Overdive. Win win in my observation.
Excellent point that I had not considered. Since I have no clue on how that works, I will graciously bow out of this conversation. The 700r4 is not that fun of a swap with the 1031's PTO powered Generator
Some GM 3/4 tons had 3.21, 3.42, and C30 a 5.13 FF rears.what other gears came from the factory? i only know of 4.56 and 4.10. the axles all over my yard are those to ratios and thats it. had a 3.73 14b that was a 2wd gas truck.
