Can't wait to see how the recovery goes. I might go check out the lot at Camp Dodge on Teusday.
I'm hoping to get up to Barstow for a "post preview" on Tuesday. We can swap pics.

Waiting sux.......

EUC is going nowhere. I guess I won't be making one of those "EUC to Battle Creek in 1 Day!" posts. GL did tell me they got my money. My CC company doesn't know it yet, but they checked via live chat and said it went through fine. I was a little worried because I almost never use this card and they have canceled it and re issued it three times in five years because of possible fraud. Anyway, it went right through.

Headed to Barstow with a couple sturdy locks and my digital camera for a post preview in the morning. I should have a good idea of what I have then. If nothing else, maybe I can get weekly visiations while my EUC drags through.

I'm going to start getting some solid ideas together for what to do with this truck. I originally wanted a bobbed deuce, but now, maybe not. Maybe for the NEXT one. :)

Oh and after looking through upcoming auctions, I offically "hate" those with easy access to a southeast base that shall remain nameless even though it has 90 percent of everything! :)

Maybe a long distance recovery is in my future.

Oh and is it a sickness when I pull up every auction from Barstow just trying to see if my truck shows up in the background of another shot? :)

M109 visit

Went to Barstow with my daughter to VISIT my M109 while I wait in EUC hell. Was up until 0300 printing a hard copy of the -10 manual. I used an old laser jet which did not like to do double sided pages. Forgot to take freshly printed manual with me due to lack of sleep.

Hit traffic on the way up so we didn't find the place until 0915. Ended up at DRMO 1st and was wondering about the Humvees sitting around. Quickly got directed accross the street to GL.

Came upon a couple seasoned dudes trying to get a 5 ton started. They directed me to "Tim" the local GL rep. Very friendly, very nice guy. Took me right to my truck with no proof of any kind (my kinda invoice thing was with the manual). He bird dogged me while I was checking the old girl out so I asked him if it would be ok to spend an hour or so taking pics and trying to figure out what I had. He said sure. I mentioned that I brought locks for the back as recommended by the SS site. He got real icey after that. Kind of implied that people from these forums rip each other off. Now I could hang solo ONLY if I did not leave my truck. Previews (didn't really want to anyways - no preview requests) were to be escorted and he was busy (sending his forklift driver to do nasty stuff with trucks - very unsafe looking). Meanwhile several other groups were siteseeing on their own.

I took about 135 pics - New Deuce M109 - a set on Flickr

I still need to sort and edit, so don't bash me.

It looks pretty well maintained, though it seems to have sat. Tires full up looking. Good looking antifreeze in the radiator. The radiator has been patched, but seems to be holding. Top looks good, maybe new. The dash is just hanging there and that has me worried. Is it for trouble shooting or theft? Or do they just do that? Batteries were dead - switch was on. Dipstick was STUCK!! It would turn side to side, but would not pull out. No leaks noted under the truck. One tank had a little air, other has 3 ounces of water. There is a little rust on the box bottom edge, possibly alot on the roof. Passenger wingshield is cracked and frame is rusted. Looks like I bought a 1/2 tank of fuel too.

The box is FULL of STUFF!! Full!! Manuals, papers, docs, etc. Might have been a supply officers office. Glad I locked up the back. Missing one window cover.

I took no tools since this was a visit and I didn't want to piss anyone off or look like I was parts shopping. No fluids other than antifreeze was checked.

Your thoughts?

Oh and a juicy piece of info from the forklift driver -

Barstow will be running 500 trucks thru GL. Use this rumor as you wish.

The oil dpstick is screwed on. You will have to unscrew it before it will pull out.

Hi, look what i got for my birthday...
I have a question? I just changed the oil and fuel filters on the engine.
I then found the one on the frame. The engine fuel filters were easy to change and bleed is there any difference for the primary filter?:oops::-D
